Iran's Revolutionary Guards have issued a severe warning, threatening a "regret-inducing response" if attacks on Lebanon continue unabated. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) emphasised that strikes must cease immediately, stating unequivocally: "Any attack on the proud Hezbollah is an attack on Iran." This stern declaration follows reports of hundreds killed and injured in recent strikes on Lebanon, with Beirut suffering extensive and heavy damage.
Massive Israeli Airstrikes Escalate Tensions
The Israeli military has confirmed executing its "largest strike" on Lebanon since the onset of the conflict, marking a significant escalation in hostilities. This aggressive military action has intensified regional tensions, drawing sharp rebukes from Iranian authorities who view the assaults as direct threats to their allies and strategic interests in the area.
Ceasefire Dispute Adds Complexity
Amid the violence, a dispute over the two-week Iran-US ceasefire further complicates the situation. Iran and Pakistan assert that the ceasefire terms apply to Lebanon, advocating for a halt to all military actions in the region. In contrast, the United States and Israel disagree, maintaining that the ceasefire does not extend to Lebanese territory, thereby justifying continued operations.
This disagreement underscores the fragile and volatile nature of diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, as conflicting interpretations of agreements fuel ongoing conflict and humanitarian crises. The international community watches closely, concerned about potential broader regional implications if hostilities persist.
