A devastating new Israeli military offensive across Gaza has forced thousands of terrified Palestinian civilians to flee their homes, amidst a deadly bombardment that has sharply escalated the humanitarian crisis.
The Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza reports a catastrophic death toll, claiming over 38,000 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict began, following Hamas's October 7th attacks on Israel.
International Outcry and Genocide Allegations
The intensified military campaign has drawn severe international condemnation. South Africa has spearheaded the charge, formally accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza in a landmark case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In a recent ruling, the UN's top court ordered Israel to immediately halt its military operations in the southern city of Rafah, a directive that Israeli authorities have so far dismissed, arguing the operation is crucial for dismantling Hamas battalions and securing the release of hostages.
The Human Cost: A City in Flight
On the ground, the situation is dire. Families are seen desperately escaping on foot, in carts, and crammed into vehicles, carrying whatever belongings they can salvage. The northern areas, including Gaza City, are experiencing some of the most intense strikes, despite being previously declared cleared of Hamas forces by the Israeli military.
