Actor and martial arts legend Chuck Norris has died at the age of 86 following a medical emergency in Hawaii, his family announced. Norris, best known for his role in Walker, Texas Ranger, had been hospitalised on the island of Kauai, where he owned a home.
According to TMZ, Norris was conscious and in good spirits before his passing. The nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed. The Independent contacted Norris's representative for comment.
Last week, Norris celebrated his 86th birthday with a social media post showing him sparring with a boxing trainer. He wrote: 'I don’t age. I level up. I’m 86 today! Nothing like some playful action on a sunny day to make you feel young.'
Norris was a former martial arts champion who starred opposite Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon (1972). He later headlined the CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger from 1993 to 2001.
In December, he paid tribute to his first wife, Dianne Holechek, who died at 84. The couple married in 1958 and divorced in 1989. Norris is survived by his second wife, Gena O'Kelley, and four children.
