Hamnet Triumphs at Girls On Film Awards in London

Hamnet dominated the Girls On Film Awards in London, winning three top prizes including Best Feature Film, Best Director for Chloé Zhao, and Best Performance in a Leading Role for Jessie Buckley. The ceremony, hosted by co-founders Anna Smith and Hedda Lornie Archbold, celebrated women-led filmmaking with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

Teyana Taylor won Best Performance in a Supporting Role for One Battle After Another, while The Perfect Neighbor by Geeta Gandbhir took Best Documentary. The Best Female Friendship Award was shared by Brides and Lollipop, and Goodbye June received the Best Ensemble Award, with Andrea Riseborough collecting the gong.

On the craft side, Frankenstein’s production designer Tamara Deverell and Sinners cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw were honoured. Wicked director Jon M. Chu received the Girls On Film Ally Award, recognising male filmmakers who create complex female characters. Lollipop filmmaker Daisy-May Hudson was awarded the Activist Impact Award for her gender equality activism.

Smith and Archbold said: 'Our diverse list of winners shows what an incredible year it’s been for women-led storytelling.' They added: 'Our dream is for all awards ceremonies to recognise the great work of women and non-binary creatives.'
