Alvaro Morata Opens Up About Final Split from Wife Alice Campello
Spanish international footballer Alvaro Morata has publicly confirmed the definitive end of his marriage to Italian model and influencer Alice Campello, following a brief and unsuccessful attempt at reconciliation. The 33-year-old striker, currently on loan at Como from AC Milan, revealed the painful details in an interview, stating the couple fundamentally "don't understand each other."
A Marriage That Could Not Be Saved
The couple's separation was first announced in August 2024, shortly after Spain's triumphant Euro 2024 victory. Despite rekindling their relationship in January of the following year, the reconciliation proved temporary. Recent reports indicate they have been living separately in Milan for some time, a situation Morata has now confirmed marks the permanent dissolution of their seven-year union.
"We are suffering because we are two people who love each other, but we don't understand each other," Morata told contributor Alexia Rivas on the program Fiesta. He was keen to dispel any narrative that placed disproportionate blame on his wife, emphasizing their shared pain. "Alice isn't having a worse time than me because many people say she's the one who's hurting. I want to make it clear that we're both hurting, it's not that she's bitter, we're both hurting."
Denying Infidelity Rumours and Defending a Friend
The split has been accompanied by intense media speculation, including Spanish reports alleging Morata had an affair with sports management expert Elena Sirigu. Morata vehemently denied these accusations, launching a strong rebuke against those spreading the rumors.
"No special friend or anything like that, I'm not interested in that right now," he stated. "The day I have a special friend, I'll walk around with her normally and you'll see. People who claim there are third parties involved in a separation like this, especially with children involved, simply have no heart."
His denial aligns with a previous public defense issued by Campello herself. The 30-year-old influencer took to social media to vouch for Sirigu's character, describing her as a long-time family friend who was unfairly maligned.
"Elena is a family friend whom I've known for years, and I can say with absolute certainty that she is not that kind of person," Campello wrote. "She doesn't deserve this exposure or to have her name associated with things she hasn't done. Our relationship has always been clear... she's a serious person with values and a respectable family."
Focusing on Co-Parenting Their Four Children
Despite the marital breakdown, the couple's primary focus remains their four young children: Alessandro, twin Leonardo, Edoardo, and Bella. Last month, Spanish magazine Hola reported that Morata had moved out of the family home. Sources indicate that both Morata and Campello are committed to maintaining a cordial and cooperative relationship for the sake of their children's wellbeing.
