Jack Draper has announced a significant change to his coaching arrangements, with former world number one Andy Murray joining his team for the grass-court season, culminating at Wimbledon. The 24-year-old British player, who has struggled with injuries and slipped to 50th in the world rankings, has ended his six-month collaboration with coach Jamie Delgado.
Murray's return to coaching
Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion who retired from professional tennis in 2024, previously spent six months coaching Novak Djokovic last year. His new role with Draper marks a return to the coaching arena, this time supporting a fellow Briton. Draper expressed gratitude to Delgado for their work together and confirmed that he will also continue to receive support from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) team.
Draper's injury struggles
The British number two has faced persistent fitness issues over the past year, forcing him to withdraw from multiple tournaments. Most recently, he retired from a match due to a knee injury, highlighting the physical challenges that have hampered his progress. With Murray's experience and insight, Draper hopes to regain form and make a strong impact on home soil during the grass-court swing.
The partnership is expected to focus on tactical adjustments and mental resilience, areas where Murray excelled during his illustrious career. Fans will be eager to see how this collaboration unfolds as Draper prepares for the Wimbledon championships.
