Compression boots that inflate and deflate to boost circulation and aid post-exercise recovery are now a fairly common sight. You can slip them on in smart London gyms or experience them as an add-on in elevated spas. But what if you could use an advanced pair at home?
What's New with Skinvity PressTech
Skinvity's upgraded PressTech boots let you do just that. The difference between this and previous models is that there are four guided treatment programmes (the set-up used to be manual), which range from a 15-minute "Recovery" session to a 30-minute "Complete" mode. Setting you back an eye-watering £1,025, are they worth it? I've been putting the boots through their paces at home – here's how I got on.
Design and Features
You can still adjust the pressure manually, and there's good variation from light to firm. Another development is that there are now eight compression chambers, compared to six. This means that the pressure feels precise and covers the total leg, even extending up to the lower abs and glutes. They also now come in two sizes (S-M and L-XL), which feels more inclusive.
My Experience
Having just taken a long-haul flight, I tried the 20-minute Drainage programme. Once it was done, I did feel fresher and more awake. The treatment itself is strangely relaxing, in part because you can't do anything else while you're wearing the boots. That's the kind of forced switch-off we all need. The boots are by no means cheap, but the intuitive design and additional features make them feel worth it if you're looking to invest.
