Despite doing her weekly shop at budget-friendly Aldi and Sainsbury's, senior lifestyle reporter Angela Patrone admits she is obsessed with one premium item from Marks and Spencer: their 0% fat Greek yoghurt with fruit compote, costing just £1.20 per pot.
Discovering the Yoghurt
While scanning the dairy aisle for her usual Greek yoghurt, Patrone spotted small pots of 0% fat Greek yoghurt that include a portion of fruit compote. Available in cherry, peach, and honey variants, she grabbed all three to sample. Her top choice was the peach flavour.
Patrone describes these yoghurts as “like a premium and healthier alternative to a Müller Corner.” The larger compartment contains the Greek yoghurt, while the smaller section is packed with a wonderfully sweet compote or honey.
Nutritional Benefits
At just 113 calories and boasting over 12g of protein, these yoghurts make a fantastic addition to breakfast or serve as a satisfying between-meal snack. Patrone noted that she got through four of them in a single week.
Comparison with Other Brands
The brand Fage offers a comparable product available at Sainsbury's, though it comes exclusively with honey rather than fruit. Furthermore, it contains less protein per 100g while packing in more calories. Aldi stocks small pots of 0% fat Greek yoghurt in mango, raspberry, honey, and vanilla varieties; however, Patrone found the Greek yoghurt itself failed to win her over.
Patrone concludes: “If you're a fan of Greek yoghurt paired with fruit, particularly peaches and cherries, these pots are absolutely worth picking up.”
