Mounjaro Journey: Weight Loss, Health Gains, and Lifestyle Change
Mounjaro Journey: Weight Loss, Health Gains, Lifestyle

After just over a year on Mounjaro, Pete Price says the medication has completely transformed his life and, in his opinion, has been money well spent. He has lost over three and a half stone and reports that his blood pressure is now that of a 20-year-old.

A Year of Transformation

Price, writing in a personal column, notes that many people argue the treatment is too expensive and out of reach. He acknowledges it is costly but points to trade-offs he has made: skipping starters and desserts at restaurants, drinking significantly less alcohol, and cutting out takeaways, fast-food runs, and snack hauls in his weekly shop. He argues that the savings from these changes have paid for the medication.

One of the best surprises, he says, has been his wardrobe. As a self-described hoarder who looks after his clothes, he is now fitting into trousers and jackets he has not worn in years—and notes they are back in fashion. His biggest clothing issue now is his designer belts, as he regularly visits the cobblers in St John's Precinct to have extra holes punched into them, with one belt wrapping around him nearly twice.

Health and Well-Being Gains

Price also experienced an unexpected benefit: losing weight on his feet, which means all of his shoes fit better and feel more comfortable. Above all, he says, the greatest reward has been his health and well-being.

His doctor recently told him his blood pressure is that of a 20-year-old. After a comprehensive panel of tests covering diabetes, osteoarthritis, and other markers, every result came back completely normal, with no action required. He reports that his energy levels are through the roof and his outlook on aging is more positive than ever.

He emphasizes that the injection is only a tool and that users still have to put in the work to change their lifestyle. He thanks the team at Mojo Chemist in Prenton for supporting him every step of the way.

Addressing Critics and Side Effects

Price also responds to critics who claim using the medication is "cheating." He asks how it could be cheating if it prolongs his life after a lifetime of battling his weight. He notes that side effects vary by individual; for him, they have included cold feet, bouts of constipation, and shifts in his sleep pattern, though he says he was never a sound sleeper anyway.

He acknowledges that the biggest question facing many users is what happens when it is time to come off these drugs, noting there is no single, universal answer yet. He stresses the importance of working closely with a licensed medical provider and sourcing medication through reputable healthcare professionals to ensure genuine, safe treatment with proper oversight.

Currently, Price is on a maintenance schedule, having moved from a half-dose weekly to a half-dose every fortnight, and will see how that progresses. He also weighs himself daily to stay accountable, though he recognises that routine is not right for everyone. He hopes others embarking on their own journey find the same health, confidence, and satisfaction he has.
