A 48-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he unbuttoned his pants in an airport waiting area and urinated on a seven-year-old boy and his parents. Lawrence Raben, a Fort Lauderdale resident, was booked into county jail following the incident at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Incident at Terminal 3
According to a criminal complaint, Raben was sitting across from the family near a gate inside Terminal 3 when he exposed himself around 11.30am on Tuesday. Police say that as Raben urinated toward the family, Brittany Purdy and her son were struck by the urine.
As Raben exposed himself and began urinating, several other passengers dispersed from the area, reports The Smoking Gun.
Charges and background
Raben was charged with misdemeanor battery, indecent exposure and disorderly intoxication counts. He was also charged with a felony for allegedly causing a minor to have contact with bodily fluids.
It is not known whether Raben was waiting to board a flight in the secured area or had flown in earlier. His Facebook profile says he is a divorced dad of two and lists himself as a project manager for a kitchen remodeling firm. His rap sheet includes a 2011 no contest plea to a domestic battery charge for which he was sentenced to probation and ordered to complete a batterer’s intervention program.
