Cat Deeley has revealed what she got up to after This Morning was pulled off air at the last minute, alongside fellow daytime shows Lorraine and Loose Women.
ITV Daytime Shows Cancelled After Power Outage
ITV was plunged into chaos on Wednesday (November 4), with Lorraine Kelly first announcing on social media that her self-titled programme was taken off air at the last minute after an overnight power outage in the Covent Garden area in London, where the studio is based.
She said in the clip that Good Morning Britain would be extended by half an hour to cover her usual slot, from 9.30am to 10am, but there was hope that This Morning would be able to go to air, even if delayed slightly.
Cat Deeley's Creative Solution
However, GMB hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls confirmed during their show that Cat and her co-host Ben Shephard would not be able to front their programme live, and it would be replaced by a 'best bits' episode instead, before the latest episode of Loose Women was also scrapped, as they share a studio, H Club Studio in Covent Garden.
A statement shared on Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women's social channels then confirmed: "Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today. We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible."
Behind-the-Scenes Clip
Cat has since shared a behind-the-scenes clip of what she got up to when she no longer had to host This Morning, with the presenter seen recording herself washing her hair in almost complete darkness as there was "no electricity", but there was also "no water".
Cat's hairdresser was seen attempting to dye her hair with only a small light keeping them out of a complete blackout, before using bottled water to wash it, as the TV star rested her head in the sink.
"No power. No water. The show must go on! @chadmaxwellhair & I will continue to colour my hair in the face of adversity... we'll just get a little creative in the process, clearly," Cat captioned her video. Hairstylist Chad saw the funny side, as he replied to the post: "we said: not today universe !!!! love you."
Reactions to the Chaos
And when one person commented: "I love that you love it, when stuff goes wrong!" Cat admitted she had fun as she replied: "Haven’t laughed that much in ages!" Meanwhile, another hairstylist replied: "what a game client!!! Bravo to making this a laugh & not dragging the appointment down!" Cat responded: "Never."
