DREO TurboCool Misting Fan Review: Beat the Heatwave with Cool Mist
DREO TurboCool Misting Fan Review: Cool Mist for Heatwave

It's not a glamorous topic, but if you're prone to sweating buckets and overheating in a heatwave like this one, the best fans can be a real lifesaver. I run incredibly hot all year round and suffer from overheating and night sweats, but with the hottest May ever recorded this year, it's been even worse.

If you're struggling with perimenopause or even unlucky genetics, you'll know how difficult it can be to stay cool and look good in a heatwave when the temperatures start rising. Last summer, I wrote about a portable John Lewis fan that saved me during the hot summer commutes. This year, it's something a bit different — the DREO TurboCool misting fan.

Misting fans not only work like regular fans but can also be used with water to deliver a mist of cold air alongside the usual cooling provided by the blades. While misting fans are nothing new — Shark made them incredibly popular last year with the launch of its FlexBreeze fans — DREO's newest model for 2026 ticks all of my boxes. It's compact, affordable and delivers a genuinely dry and cool mist that won't add tons of humidity into your home. So, if, like me, you struggle to keep your cool in the summer, the DREO TurboCool misting fan needs to be your next purchase. Read my full review below.

DREO TurboCool Misting Fan: At a glance

I was hugely impressed with DREO's TurboCool Misting Fan. It offers excellent value for money with a variety of cooling modes, levels and of course that super dry cold mist that's ideal for humid homes and those of us who need more than a regular fan can provide.

  • Smart integration: Yes
  • Assembly required: No
  • Timer: Yes, 1-12 hours
  • Number of speeds: 4
  • Oscillation: Up to 150 degrees
  • Fan type: Misting fan

What we love

  • Misting: Very dry, cooling mist
  • Noise levels: Very quiet
  • Compact: Easy to move around

What could be better

  • Size: Not suitable for larger rooms (see Dreo's tower misting fan)

Our verdict: There's no other way to say it — this fan has truly improved my sleep and my working days. Unlike some other misting fans, the mist from the DREO TurboCool isn't wet at all. It does exactly what it says, delivers a fine, cold mist helping you to cool down and does so at a fraction of the price of the viral Shark FlexBreeze. It's surprisingly quiet on lower settings, and even when using higher ones, the noise from it only reaches 48dB and isn't particularly unpleasant, meaning I found it quite comfortable to sleep with. It's simple to use, and the large water tank means you'll get hours of misting without having to constantly refill — an issue that other brands suffer with.

DREO TurboCool Misting Fan review

Design

The DREO TurboCool fan is a compact model that's ideal for bedrooms, home offices and kitchens. At 20.1 x 21.9 x 40cm (DWH) and weighing just 2.3kg, it's surprisingly moveable and portable too. I mostly used mine at night on my bedside table, but it also works great during the working day, and I even brought it downstairs to use while I was cooking during hotter days. There are plenty of modes and speed settings on this fan. It has three modes, four speeds and five oscillation angles — 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 degrees. There's also a 30-degree vertical tilt, giving you a lot of control over where and how you use this fan. The generous 1.3L water tank gives you up to 12 hours of cooling mist, depending on the setting used and is easy to refill. You can even see when the water is running low due to its transparent tank. The water tank slides off for easy filling and lasts up to 12 hours.

Performance

I was really impressed with the power of this fan, given its size. DREO claims it can be felt up to 26 feet away. You're not going to feel the full benefits from that far away, though, but as you're most likely to have this fan close by, it's not really an issue. The air flow and cooling are far more powerful than those of other fans I've tested of a similar size, including the FlexBreeze. Even on its lowest, quietest 20dB setting, this fan still provides you with a lovely cool feeling. A light, ultra-fine mist ensures you stay cool without getting wet. After filling up the tank and using it overnight (you can set the timer to run for up to 12 hours), I was surprised to see how little water it actually used. It's rare that a product is true to its word, but this really does last ages before you need to refill it, and it's very, very dry — something you might be worried about when using a misting fan in a humid UK home.

Value for money

At £99, the DREO TurboCool Misting Fan isn't a 'cheap' model but offers really good value for money in terms of performance and settings. This is because, unlike standard fans, it can actively cool your room by several degrees, even if it's hotter inside than out.

How does it compare to similar products?

DREO's biggest rival is the sell-out Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo fan (£130). Performance, price and misting capacity are better with the DREO TurboCool — I felt that the mist was much drier and cooler too. However, the FlexBreeze can be used both corded and cordless, indoors and out. It also has three to 12 hours of runtime cordless. DREO also recently released an XL tower fan version of the TurboCool with a 6L tank for £199.99. This is better suited to larger rooms or for use further away. It's a bit slower and clunkier than some rivals, but it still provides a super-fine cool mist that helps keep those summer sweats away.

How does it rate online?

The DREO TurboCool receives high praise online with an average rating of 4.6/5 across large retailers such as Amazon. Customers often say the fan surpassed their expectations, 'giving you that immediate chilled feeling without soaking everything nearby like some cheaper mist fans do'. The main downside that people have noticed is that on higher settings, the oscillation adds a few decibels to the overall noise level of the fan, which might not be quiet enough for some people.

What is a misting fan?

A misting fan is a cooling device that combines standard airflow with a fine water mist to help lower your body temperature more effectively than a classic blade fan. The fan circulates air as normal, while a built-in misting system releases a very small amount of water at the same time. As those droplets evaporate, they absorb heat from the surrounding air and from your skin, creating an evaporative cooling effect. DREO's TurboCool misting fan goes even further, as the mist is designed to be ultra-fine, so it cools without leaving surfaces or clothing feeling overly wet — a common issue with other brands.

Are misting fans worth the money?

For many people, yes. Misting fans can be worth the money if you regularly deal with hot, dry or stuffy conditions and want something more effective than a standard fan without the cost or energy use of air conditioning. A normal fan only moves warm air around, while a misting fan adds evaporative cooling. This combo can make the air feel significantly cooler, particularly during heatwaves. Models like DREO's TurboCool are also designed to use a very fine mist, so you get the cooling effect without feeling soaked, which makes them more practical for use during sleep or while at work.
