Tim Bilton: Stage 4 Cancer Dormant After 13-Year Battle

TV chef Tim Bilton, best known for appearing on Channel 5's On The Farm and the BBC's Great British Menu, has shared an emotional health update after a 13-year battle with cancer. The Yorkshire-born star was diagnosed with eye cancer in 2013 and told it was terminal in 2019. However, recent scans have revealed that the cancer is now dormant.

Emotional Phone Call Brings Clear Scans

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Bilton shared a photo of himself embracing his wife, Adele, and wrote: 'So today we had an emotional phone call to say all my recent scans are clear and my stage 4 cancer is dormant. 13 years on and I have been signed off….its over for now.' He added: 'Grateful, scared, emotional and not sure what to feel. Huge thank you to Adele for being by my side through it all and Adele’s brother Joe for being by her side.'

Reflecting on a Decade of Struggle

Bilton opened up about the toll the illness has taken on his family, including his two sons, Henry and Charlie. He described the past 13 years as 'utter bloody rubbish' and noted that his body has 'been to hell and back.' He said: 'I don’t look the same, I don’t talk the same, I can’t eat the things I use to love, my taste buds aren’t what they we’re, my jaw and knee are buggered…..I could go on. But more importantly I’m still here and have been able to see my boys grow.'

Hope and Gratitude

Despite the hardships, Bilton expressed that cancer has made him a better man. He recalled that in 2019, Adele was told to say her goodbyes, but they have 'smiled, laughed, cried and screamed through the storm.' He thanked his 'amazing oncologist who has never given up on me' and his sons for 'keeping me going and making me proud every single day.' His update concluded with a message of hope: 'If you’re reading this there is still hope….So hope really did carry us through……'
