Marks & Spencer has issued an urgent recall for its M&S Food Truffle Gouda cheese due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness. The recall affects product code 29424887, pack size 150g, with a use-by date of October 9, 2026.

The recall was posted on both the M&S website and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website. Customers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it and to return it to their nearest M&S store for a full refund. Only the specified date code is impacted; no other M&S products are affected.
Health Risks and Symptoms
The FSA warned that symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes can resemble flu, including high temperature, muscle aches, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can lead to severe complications such as meningitis. Vulnerable groups include people over 65, pregnant women and their unborn babies, infants under one month, and those with weakened immune systems.

M&S stated they take food safety extremely seriously and customer safety is of paramount importance. A spokesperson said: "Please do not consume this product. Any customers in possession of this product can return it to their nearest store, where they will receive a full refund."
