A children's throat lozenge has been urgently recalled in Australia after metal pieces were discovered in the product. Key-Sun Kids Honey & Eucalyptus and Acerola lozenges have been pulled from sale amid fears they could contain metal fragments.
Recall details and affected batch
The throat lollies, marketed for children to soothe sore throats, were sold through pharmacies and chemists, and were also available online. The recall applies specifically to batch 0072, which has a use-by date of June 2028.
Health risks and consumer advice
Consumers have been warned that food products containing metal can cause injury or harm if consumed. Key-Sun stated, “If a small metal wire is present, this could result in a child cutting their mouth.” They added, “If any pieces of metal are swallowed by a child, this may result in damage to the digestive tract and present a choking hazard.”
