The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a food recall notice for several Full On Flapjacks products due to undeclared allergens. The flapjacks contain almonds, soya and wheat, which are not listed on the label, making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to almonds (nuts) or soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat containing gluten, or with coeliac disease. The recall applies to England and Wales.
Affected products and what to do
The affected products include Bakewell Flapjack, Raspberry Yoghurt Flapjack, White Chocolate Flapjack, Blueberry Swirl Flapjack, and Caramel Flapjack. For each product, all pack sizes and all best-before dates are affected. The Bakewell Flapjack contains undeclared almonds (nuts), soya, and wheat (gluten), while the other four contain undeclared soya and wheat (gluten).
The FSA stated: "Full On Flapjacks is recalling the above products from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall." The business has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers, explaining why the products are being recalled and what to do if they have bought them.
Customer guidance
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products and have an allergy to almonds (nuts) or soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat containing gluten, or with coeliac disease, are advised not to eat them. Instead, they should return the products to the store from which they were bought for a full refund. For further information, customers can contact migginshandbake@gmail.com.
Full On Flapjacks said: "If you have bought any of the affected products listed above and you have an allergy to almond, soya or wheat, do not eat them. Instead, return the product to the store from which you purchased it for a full refund."
Related recall and allergy alerts
A separate range of snack bars was also pulled from shelves last week due to allergy concerns. Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars were mistakenly packaged in Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers, which fail to list peanuts as an ingredient. This issue poses a potential health risk to anyone with a peanut allergy, and the affected bars were recalled from Asda and Sainsbury's. The affected product is Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars, pack size five x 20g, batch code 6238 (08:30 - 10:30), best before August 2027.
Halo Foods said: "Halo Foods apologises for any inconvenience caused and is taking this matter seriously, please note that no other Skinny products are affected by this action." The FSA issues allergy alerts when there are problems with food items that should not be sold. It explained that a product might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect, or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.
