Dog Rescued from Ben Nevis After Suspected Cannabis

A dog has been rescued from Ben Nevis after suffering a suspected adverse reaction to discarded cannabis. The black Labrador, named Tokyo, collapsed while hiking with her owner Christina Bluhme, a dog trainer from Esher, Surrey, halfway up the UK's highest mountain.

The incident occurred last weekend during a trip to Scotland. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist and stretchered Tokyo down from the 4,413ft (1,345m) peak to a local vet, Crown Vets, where she made a full recovery.

Owner's Gratitude and Vets' Findings

Christina Bluhme expressed her gratitude on social media, saying: "Thank you, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team. Without your support, I would never have been able to get Tokyo safely down from the mountain. At the time, I truly thought I was going to lose her, and I can't begin to express how grateful I am for your kindness, professionalism, and compassion. Thank you for being there when we needed you most. We will never forget it."

Vets believe Tokyo consumed cannabis left on the trail. Christina noted that Tokyo, usually a very fit and active working dog, had become critically unwell from the suspected ingestion.

Rescue Team Confirms Recovery

A spokesperson for Lochaber Mountain Rescue confirmed: "Following a request to assist a collapsed dog on Sunday, we're pleased to confirm that Tokyo has made a full recovery, having been cared for at Crown Vets! It's now suspected that Tokyo, a usually very fit and active working dog, had ingested something that made her critically unwell. Many thanks to Crown vets for their support, and to Tokyo's owner for the update and photos. The team is really pleased to hear Tokyo is doing well! Glad we could help."
