Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he was rushed to hospital following a 'horrific' error during his prostate cancer treatment. The Clarkson's Farm star described the incident as a 'very big emergency' in the middle of the night, which was 'beyond Defcon 1 on the pain scale'.
Details of the Mistake
At the end of series five of Prime Video's Clarkson's Farm, Clarkson was seen being taken away from Diddly Squat in an ambulance, later appearing in a hospital bed. He had undergone surgery to treat his prostate cancer, but the treatment went 'awry' after he resumed taking medication for his cardiac issues too soon. Clarkson told The Times: 'That was horrific and it was all my own fault. I'd been on drugs for heart issues and I had to come off them during the cancer treatment. Two or three weeks after the cancer operation, I thought I'd better put myself back on those blood thinners. Big mistake, huge.'
Pain and Aftermath
The mistake led to a 'very big emergency' that required an ambulance call in the middle of the night. Clarkson described the subsequent procedure as 'spectacularly painful'. The former Top Gear star is now in remission from the 'aggressive' cancer, noting that it could easily have spread to his pancreas or elsewhere, but was caught early enough to treat.
Health Update and Advice
Clarkson underwent a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test two months ago, which showed no indication of cancer. He urged other men to get checked, saying: 'I've seen so many people die of cancer. It doesn't bear thinking about what it must be like to live knowing that an illness is going to kill you.'
