High Street Giant Boots Introduces Affordable Vitamin B12 Service

High street pharmacy chain Boots has announced the launch of a new private health service: the Vitamin B12 Injection Service. Priced at £29 per dose, this new offering is now available at more than 145 Boots stores nationwide, providing a convenient solution for eligible customers to manage their nutrient levels and boost their energy.

Who Can Benefit from the New Service?

The service is specifically designed to assist individuals who may have nutritional gaps in their diet. This includes people following a strict plant-based or vegetarian diet, as vitamin B12 is naturally found in animal products like meat, fish, and dairy. Furthermore, older individuals are particularly susceptible to deficiency, with NHS data indicating it affects about one in ten people aged 75 and over.

To qualify for a single injection, customers must have received a 'low' vitamin B12 result from the Boots Vitamin B12 Blood Test Kit within the month prior to their appointment. The service also supports adults aged 18 and over with a confirmed, permanent cause of B12 deficiency from their GP, allowing for regular administration.

How the Boots B12 Service Works

Each appointment lasts approximately 20 minutes and involves a consultation with a Boots healthcare professional. Following the injection, the clinician will direct the customer to their own GP for further testing to identify any underlying causes of the deficiency.

Claire Nevinson, superintendent pharmacist at Boots, stated: "The launch of our Vitamin B12 Service helps provide customers with convenient access to nutritional support they may need, when they need it." She emphasised that this initiative allows Boots to act as a first port of call for healthcare, connecting customers to expert advice and tailored services on the high street.

Customers can book an appointment online at boots.com or by visiting a participating store. This new service joins Boots' extensive portfolio of over 180 healthcare services offered both privately and on behalf of the NHS.
