Tom Brady Hails Cancer Breakthrough Claim Ahead of NewsNation Interview
Tom Brady backs doctor's cancer breakthrough claim

American football legend Tom Brady has publicly endorsed what he describes as "incredible work" by renowned doctor Pat Soon-Shiong, who claims to have made a significant breakthrough in cancer treatment that's being overlooked by government authorities.

Controversial Cancer Claims

The seven-time Super Bowl champion shared a preview clip from Soon-Shiong's upcoming interview with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation, scheduled for broadcast on Tuesday, November 25. In the 30-second teaser, Cuomo directly questions the doctor about whether the government is aware but dismissive of his findings.

"You're telling me the government is aware, but dismisses, what you believe is the most important thing to be focused on?" Cuomo asks. Soon-Shiong responds mysteriously, calling it "the only cell within us that's never been unlocked." A narrator then states that the doctor "says he has found a way to kill cancer."

Brady, with his massive following of millions on X, amplified the message by sharing the clip and writing: "I'll be watching. This is incredible work that needs more attention. We need more minds like this attacking our world's biggest problems."

The Doctor Behind the Claims

Dr Pat Soon-Shiong, 73, is no stranger to cancer research breakthroughs. According to the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, he has dedicated 30 years to pursuing cancer treatments and ultimately finding a cure.

Born in South Africa to Chinese parents who fled during Japan's World War II occupation, Soon-Shiong moved to the United States in the early 1980s. His most notable achievement came with inventing the cancer drug Abraxane, which revolutionised pancreatic cancer treatment and helped build his estimated $5.4 billion fortune, according to Forbes.

The doctor's profile expanded beyond medicine when he purchased the Los Angeles Times for $500 million in 2018 and acquired a minority stake in the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers in 2010, which he still maintains today.

Brady's Health Science Connection

The 48-year-old Brady's endorsement carries particular weight given his well-documented commitment to scientific approaches in maintaining his athletic performance. Throughout his gruelling NFL career, which ended with his 2023 retirement from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at age 45, Brady famously followed the strict TB12 diet.

His nutritional regimen emphasised plant-based eating (80%), specific food preferences including red peppers over green, cashews and walnuts instead of almonds, and oranges rather than apples.

Since retiring from football, Brady has transitioned to broadcasting with Fox under a $375 million 10-year deal, while also building a sports team portfolio that includes the Las Vegas Raiders, WNBA's Las Vegas Aces, and English football club Birmingham.

Soon-Shiong acknowledged Brady's support on X, responding: "Thank you Tom. Your support for this work means a lot to the scientists and clinicians working 24/7 to fight cancer."

The full interview, dramatically titled 'Killing Cancer', promises to reveal more about what could represent a significant advancement in oncology research when it airs next week.
