Nan dies in Turkey days after cancer all-clear

Anne Morris, from Page Moss, died in hospital in Turkey on October 29 after suffering a cardiac arrest while on holiday, just days after her family say she received the all-clear from lung cancer.

The grandmother had spent two years battling lung cancer before travelling to Icmeler with her husband Alan to celebrate with family. She suffered a cardiac arrest just three days into the trip and died after a second cardiac arrest.

Family faces £33,500 hospital bill

Her family say her travel insurance was deemed void because previous medical conditions, including COPD, had not been declared on the policy.

They are now trying to raise funds to cover a £33,500 hospital bill, with the hospital requiring half the outstanding amount before Anne can be brought home to Liverpool.

Remembered as 'heart of the family'

Anne was a mum of six and nan to 23 grandchildren. Her son Lee McMurrie described her as the heart of the family, saying: "She was the person I'd lean on all the time — she was just an outstanding lady."
