WWE Hall of Famer Typhoon, real name Fred Ottman, has revealed he was hospitalised for a month after a gallbladder rupture led to a severe infection. The 69-year-old shared his ordeal in an emotional Instagram video over the weekend.
Ottman said doctors told him he was just one day from death when he was admitted. 'If I would have waited one more day, the doctors told me I probably wouldn't be here with you,' he stated. His wife was informed that his condition was critical and he might not survive.
Upon admission, Ottman required dialysis to filter toxins from his blood. The infection caused significant weight loss and muscle mass reduction, leaving him bedridden and needing to relearn how to walk. 'It's been a brutal fight,' he admitted.
Despite the challenges, Ottman remains positive, noting that doctors plan to discharge him on Monday. He expressed gratitude for his wife and friends, including his wrestling colleagues. 'Thank God, I've got a good wife. I've got great friends. My wrestling buddies are just amazing,' he said.
Ottman, who wrestled as Typhoon from 1989 to 1993, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year alongside his tag team partner Earthquake, who died in 2006.
