Michelle Elman revealed she needed emergency surgery, joking that it disrupted her hopes for a fresh start during Chinese New Year. She wrote on Instagram: "Ended up needing emergency surgery. So much for Chinese New Year being a fresh start." She added that the surgery occurred on the first day of the year and Chinese New Year, highlighting the timing of this medical emergency.
Scars and Priorities
Despite not disclosing the specific reason for the surgery, Michelle showed off her latest scars, noting she has two new ones on her neck and collarbone. In a light-hearted moment, she explained that immediately after waking from the operation, she asked doctors if her tattoo remained intact, quipping that she had her priorities right.

Michelle Elman expressed that 19 surgeries are enough for a lifetime and revealed she is currently under constant monitoring, with a nurse stationed in her hospital room at all times. Hydrocephalus Awareness
In a prior social media post, Michelle highlighted hydrocephalus as the condition responsible for most of her surgeries. She emphasised the need for more awareness, stating: "Hydrocephalus is the thing that is responsible for the majority of my surgeries and I wish would get more attention because it needs the awareness." According to the NHS, hydrocephalus involves a build-up of fluid in the brain, which can cause pressure and potential damage.

A week ago, Michelle candidly shared her struggles by uploading a clip of herself crying on a hospital bed, followed by footage showing a large scar on the back of her head with staples. She insisted that all her scars contribute to her identity, proudly asserting that without them, she wouldn't be here today, showcasing her resilience amidst ongoing health challenges.
