Model Breaks NDA Silence After Botched Breast Surgery: 'He Took Away My Voice'

Model Katy Morgan has broken a two-and-a-half-year silence enforced by a non-disclosure agreement after what she describes as a life-altering and botched cosmetic procedure. The 32-year-old mother of two underwent breast augmentation surgery in April 2021 with renowned Harley Street plastic surgeon Dr Riccardo Frati, only to suffer severe complications that left her hospitalised and in chronic pain.

The Promise of Perfection Turns to Medical Nightmare

Following the birth of her second child, Morgan sought to restore her pre-pregnancy figure, opting for breast implants with a surgeon whose website markets him as the "boob god" and "surgeon to the stars." "I couldn't find one bad review against him," Morgan explains. "Everything online was positive. I thought I'd be in safe hands." She paid £8,500 for the procedure, expecting a confidence boost. Instead, days later, she collapsed and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

"I had a contaminated implant, and it had given me an infection," Morgan reveals. Emergency surgery was required to remove and clean the implant before reinsertion. She also developed necrosis in her other breast. Five years on, she continues to experience pain and issues with implant positioning. "They're not actually in the pocket – the left one floats around. It goes under my armpit, so I have to push it over," she describes.

The Gagging Order and Legal Battle

In 2023, after learning a friend was considering surgery with Dr Frati, Morgan posted a TikTok sharing her experience, including hospital photos. The video garnered hundreds of thousands of views. Weeks later, she received a letter stating she was being sued for breaching an NDA she claims she was unaware of signing. "I had no idea I'd even signed one," Morgan states, alleging she was heavily medicated at the time – a claim Dr Frati disputes.

The contract had refunded her surgery cost but included no compensation and barred her from publicly criticising the surgeon or informing regulators. Morgan admits she had already breached it twice: by complaining to regulators about aftercare a month post-surgery and by posting online. In September 2023, Dr Frati obtained an interim injunction, forcing Morgan to delete her TikTok and remain silent.

A Voice Finally Reclaimed

It was only in January 2026 that a judge lifted the injunction, allowing Morgan to speak publicly. "He took away my voice," she says. "I had my breasts done to get my confidence back after being pregnant. It was for my own self. But I wasn't even allowed to speak about it." The psychological impact of being silenced, she asserts, was worse than the physical complications.

"My breasts are awful. I hide it well, but I don't model like I used to. My sexual life is different," Morgan confesses. "I should be in the prime of my life, but I no longer have the body confidence I used to." She emphasises her right to share her experience: "I had to find the strength to say, no, this is my body, it's my choice, I have a right to speak about my own experiences."

The Wider Issue of NDAs in Healthcare

Zelda Perkins, founder of the campaign Can't Buy My Silence UK, notes that NDAs are frequently misused in the medical sector to conceal malpractice. "There's not one sector that's clean and clear of using NDAs to hide malpractice," Perkins states. "Over the last 40 years it's become 'standardised' to use confidentiality as reputational protection. That's not what confidentiality is for."

Perkins, who broke her own NDA with Harvey Weinstein in 2017 after nearly two decades of silence, explains that legal jargon often leaves signatories unaware of their rights. "The whole point of these confidentiality clauses is to obfuscate," she says. She praises Morgan's fight, noting each legal challenge raises awareness. "It's a basic human right being removed from someone not being able to speak about a harm that's happened to them," Perkins adds.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings and Final Plea

Morgan's legal battle continues, with a strike-out hearing scheduled for 9 February 2026. Her lawyer, Elliot Hammer, states: "Lifting the injunction was a significant victory. Katy has pleaded that the claim is a SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation)." They will argue the NDA is void for public policy or undue influence reasons.

In a statement, Dr Frati's legal team emphasises patient confidentiality, describing him as a "deeply caring, considerate and experienced clinician" who "categorically denies the allegations." They note the allegations are disputed and remain subject to legal and regulatory proceedings, with no findings made on their merits.

For Morgan, the ability to speak is paramount. "Don't let a man take away your voice," she urges. "Don't be threatened and intimidated by powerful people to tell you what you can and can't say about something that happened to you personally and your own body." She hopes her story empowers others to make informed decisions and assert their right to be heard.
