Lucy Alexander Reveals 'Cuddles' Saved Her Daughter's Life in NHS Documentary

Lucy Alexander, best known for presenting Homes Under The Hammer, has been praised after appearing on BBC One's Matron, Medicine and Me: 70 Years of the NHS. The programme, which aired last night, saw the star share the emotional story of how her daughter Kitty was saved from a life-threatening illness.

Kitty was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a rare condition that left her fighting for her life in hospital. Alexander credited nurses with urging her to cuddle her daughter, a gesture she believes was crucial to Kitty's recovery. 'I'm 100 per cent certain that it's the power of touch which helped our daughter recover,' she told viewers.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their support, with many admitting they were 'in tears' during the episode. One fan wrote: 'Thank you for doing this program. I've cried all the way though but it's been an eye opener. Love to you and your family.'

Following the broadcast, Alexander thanked her followers for their kind messages, revealing that Kitty has since made a full recovery. 'Thanks for all your kind comments, wanted to share our story with you, thanks to NHS kitty is doing brilliantly!' she tweeted.

Earlier this week, Alexander opened up about the darkest moments of her daughter's illness, recalling a time when doctors feared Kitty might not survive. 'At one point we didn't know if she would even survive, but fortunately she was in the right place – under the care of the NHS,' she said.
