Jeremy Clarkson has admitted that his dramatic hospital emergency at the end of Clarkson's Farm Season 5 was entirely his own fault, caused by restarting blood-thinning medication without medical advice. The former Top Gear presenter disclosed the details in an interview with the Sunday Times, describing the experience as 'horrific'.
What Happened in the Finale
The fifth series of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video took a heartbreaking turn in its final two episodes when Clarkson revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis to colleagues Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland. In the concluding episode, he was shown in a hospital bed following an emergency, telling viewers: 'If this is all successful, I'll see you for season six, and if it isn't, I won't. Take care, everyone.'
Clarkson, 65, has now confirmed he is in remission, although not without enduring frightening health complications. He confessed to the Sunday Times: 'That was horrific and it was all my own fault. I'd been on drugs for heart issues and I had to come off them during the cancer treatment.'
Why the Emergency Happened
Season 5 had already opened with Clarkson's heart surgery in October 2024, which was successful but required weeks of recovery. However, his post-operative medication clashed with his cancer treatment. Clarkson explained: 'Two or three weeks after the cancer operation, I thought I'd better put myself back on those blood thinners. Big mistake, huge. It [resulted in] a very big emergency in the middle of the night.'
He added: 'I'm not even going to go into the treatment that was required as a result of that, because it was horrible. I didn't ask a doctor, I just thought, “I'm sure it will be all right to go back on blood thinners.”'
Remission and Season 6
Fortunately, Clarkson told the Sunday Times that a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test taken two months ago revealed no signs of cancer. This positive news has enabled a sixth series of Clarkson's Farm to commence filming at Diddly Squat farm. Clarkson announced on Instagram: 'So, bit of a year. But, I am delighted to tell you that Season 6 of Clarkson's Farm is currently being filmed. It's in production.'
He added: 'And that's particularly good news for me because... well, if you know, you know. And, if you don't know, you need to watch Season 5.' Regarding his health, Clarkson now drives at a slower pace, walks more frequently, and has incorporated vegetarian dishes into his diet.
Clarkson's Farm is available to stream on Prime Video.
