Former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville has finally received a medical diagnosis for a mysterious facial condition that has plagued her for two years, cost her over $130,000, and dramatically impacted her mental health.
A Long-Awaited Answer After Years of Struggle
The 53-year-old reality television personality revealed the development during a conversation with TMZ on Friday. Glanville, who attended the grand opening of goGLOW in Sherman Oaks, confirmed she now has a diagnosis but has not yet publicly disclosed the specific details, stating she 'will be sharing' it soon.
She received the diagnosis just the day before speaking to the outlet and indicated that there are 'multiple things happening' with her health. While 'thrilled' to finally have an answer, Glanville acknowledged she faces a 'long road' ahead to fully recover.
The Severe Emotional and Financial Toll
The condition has taken a profound personal toll. Glanville described transforming into an introvert, suffering the 'worst anxiety' when leaving her house after two years of isolation. She shared dark moments, stating, 'Sometimes I sit down, I can't get up. And it's so scary, and I was just like, I don't want to live this life.' She confessed these thoughts were frightening and entirely out of character for her.
Financially, the search for a cure has been devastating. She has consulted more than 20 doctors, plunging into medical debt after her insurance refused to cover treatments, dismissing her symptoms as inflammation and old filler. 'I’m paying the minimum on my credit cards. I’ve exhausted my savings,' she said in August, expressing fear over her financial future.
A Journey of Failed Remedies and a Final Breakthrough
Glanville had previously insisted her facial features were deformed by parasites contracted in Morocco in 2023 while filming The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Ex-Wives Club 2. In desperate attempts to fix the issue, she even used hair removal cream, which burned her face.
Her breakthrough came this summer after infectious disease immunology physician Dr. Michael R. Scoma in New York City reached out to her following her distressed social media posts. After consulting him, she posted photos in August showing dramatic improvement. 'They say Twitter is the devil but all it took was me screaming in my tweets asking for help for this lovely man to reach out,' she wrote.
Prior to this, she had consulted Dr. Terry Dubrow from Botched, who disagreed with the parasite theory but was concerned about a potential infectious process or foreign-body reaction.
Now, with a diagnosis in hand and a new home providing a 'fresh start,' Glanville is focusing on her recovery. She shared the happy news with her mother, who cried upon hearing it. The star says she is focusing on peace, simplicity, and taking care of herself as she embarks on the path to getting better.
