Tragic Death of One-Year-Old Baby After Choking on Fake Fingernail

A one-year-old baby has died in a heartbreaking accident after choking on his mother's fake fingernail, according to police reports. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, at the family home in Los Polvorines, Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Details of the Fatal Incident

Dante Valentín Bermudes Rumi was at home with his mother, Aylin Saucedo, when he suddenly began struggling to breathe. In a state of panic, Aylin rushed to a neighbour for assistance before driving her son to Dr Federico Abete Hospital. Despite frantic efforts, Dante was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the medical facility.

A post-mortem examination revealed the baby died from asphyxiation after his airway became blocked with two objects that lodged in his throat. Authorities suspect these were fake fingernails, leading to a court investigation into the tragic circumstances surrounding the infant's death.

Mother's Heartbreaking Account

Aylin Saucedo, who works as a manicurist, described the traumatic events to Argentinian media. "My son died on March 21," she said. "We were at home and I realised he couldn't breathe. I ran to my neighbour's place to ask for help but there was nothing she was able to do."

"Then my aunt arrived and the same thing, so I put Dante in the car and we drove to hospital. It probably took me about 10 minutes in total. My son was dead when we arrived," the grieving mother explained through her distress.

Family Conflict and Aftermath

Following the tragedy, police were called to Dr Federico Abete Hospital where the baby's father allegedly assaulted Aylin, her new partner, and her father. Aylin further revealed to TV news channel Todo Noticias that her ex-partner deliberately prevented her from attending her son's wake and funeral by withholding information about the location.

In the days after her son's death, Aylin took to social media to express her profound grief. "Today you're no longer here, and all I have left are your toys, your little moles, and all your things without you," she wrote.

"Mum is shattered into a thousand pieces and doesn't even have the strength to face this pain. I need you with me, I miss you, I need to wake up with you, and it breaks my heart to know we won't have a morning having breakfast together, my love."

Community Support and Mourning

Friends have rallied around the bereaved mother, offering comfort during this unimaginable loss. Angeles Belen, a close friend of Aylin, expressed her support publicly, saying: "Dante will always be his mummy's beautiful prince and you are not alone friend. We love you."

The Dr Federico Abete Municipal Trauma and Emergency Hospital, where Dante was pronounced dead, has become the focal point of this tragedy that has shocked the local community. A formal court investigation continues as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to this devastating loss of a young life.
