Molly-Mae Hague has revealed that her four-month-old son Midas has been battling a 'terrifying' health scare. The 27-year-old said in a recent vlog that she had to take her son to a doctor, who "wasn't really sure" what Midas had.
Doctor suspected RSV
She said that her son started showing cold-like symptoms, but when the doctor looked him over, she thought it could be even more serious. Molly-Mae said in a vlog: "She wasn’t really sure, but she was like, ‘It does sound a bit like RSV, which can be really serious in babies.'”
RSV, which stands for Respiratory Syncytial Virus, causes symptoms similar to a cold. In young babies, it can lead to bronchiolitis, a chest infection that can cause breathing problems severe enough to require hospital treatment.
Doctor persevered with checks
"[The doctor] was like, his chest sounds clear. But basically, it’s escalated," Molly-Mae explained. "It’s gone from what I thought was just his first sort of common cold."
The mum-of-two added that the doctor worked hard to make sure Midas had all the checks he could get, even when the equipment wasn't working. "She had this little oxygen thing she was putting on his finger to try and get an oxygen reading. It kept not working. She could have just been like, ‘Okay, it’s not working,’ but she kept persevering. She was like, ‘No, I really want to get his oxygen levels. I really want to make sure I’ve given him a thorough check.'"
Despite all the checks, Molly-Mae did not confirm whether her son had either RSV or bronchiolitis. She shared that she had been avoiding looking at the conditions online, as she didn't want to "terrify" herself any more than she already had done.
Mum and baby in tears
She added that her son still wasn't alright: "If you look at him the wrong way right now, he’s in a bundle of tears. He’s breaking my heart. When the cry is that really sad, heartbreaking cry."
And Molly-Mae wasn't doing much better and said: "I’m really not sleeping well at the minute, like at all. I’m getting a couple hours a night max, and Midas just got his first cold and is just so, so upset and sensitive. Weekends are just savage. Weekends were savage with one kid. Weekends are even more savage with two kids."
The former Love Islander added that she had "a really big cry" to "let all the emotions out" after she was unable to get to an appointment following a chaotic morning.
Midas is Molly-Mae's second child with fellow Love Islander Tommy Fury, 27. She and the boxer met on the show in 2019 and had a daughter, Bambi, three years ago. They got engaged in 2023, but briefly split in August 2024 before welcoming their son.
