Supermodel Bella Hadid has once again captivated her audience, this time with a series of bold and intimate photographs shared on Instagram this Wednesday. The 29-year-old posed topless and in a delicate silk bralet, projecting confidence in a new shoot.
A Dual Display: Fashion and Advocacy
The photoshoot featured a variety of looks, including a blue and white patterned crop top and a sheer, flowing green dress, where Bella was seen laughing with friends. In a powerful statement of solidarity, she also wore a red dress adorned with the keffiyeh pattern, a symbol of Palestinian identity and resistance. Bella, who is of Palestinian-American heritage, is a long-time and vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause.
Battling 'Medical Anxiety' and Chronic Lyme Disease
This display of confidence comes just a week after the model opened up about her significant health struggles. Bella, first diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in 2013, used her Instagram stories to share posts about living with a chronic illness. She reposted content from the account @chronicillnesshumor and influencer Alexandra Wildeson's post titled 'The Duality of life with chronic illness.'
In her own caption, Bella typed, 'The medical anxiety is soooooo real. Thank you for putting every one of my thoughts and daily situations into one swipe.' Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, and brother, Anwar, also suffer from the same chronic neurological illness.
A Candid Journey with Mental Health
Last month, on World Mental Health Day, Bella offered a raw glimpse into her psychological battles. She wrote about carrying 'the weight of anxiety and depression' for years, describing feelings that can be 'all-consuming, paralyzing, and invisible.' She emphasised that these struggles are not a weakness but a part of her, offering support to others facing similar challenges.
Her health journey has been visibly difficult. In September, she posted images from a hospital, showing her receiving IV treatment and resting with an ice pack. Her mother, Yolanda, shared an emotional post the same month, praising Bella's courage while detailing the 'invisible disability' and 'unknown hell' of Lyme disease that has plagued her daughter since 2013. Bella's battle forced her to take a five-month break from modelling in 2023.
Despite these profound challenges, Bella Hadid continues to use her platform for both high-fashion expression and heartfelt advocacy, blending personal vulnerability with public solidarity in her latest social media posts.
