Channel Nine personalities Kristy and Brett Beames have announced they are expecting their first child together. The couple, who found fame on the 2023 season of The Block, shared that they are anticipating the arrival of a baby daughter in May.
A Surprising Secret Revealed
In an exclusive chat with Woman's Day magazine, the couple disclosed a surprising secret about their pregnancy. Kristy confirmed that no other cast members from their season of The Block are aware of their happy news. She added, 'That might not be a surprise to viewers,' referencing their controversial portrayal on the popular renovation show.
Brett, 37, and Kristy were famously labelled the 'villains' of their series after repeatedly clashing with fellow contestants Eliza and Liberty. Away from the television drama, the Adelaide-based couple are currently finishing renovations on their home and admit they haven't yet settled on a name for their daughter.
Life After The Block
'I’m more likely wanting to meet my child before locking something in,' Kristy explained regarding baby names. She emphasised her desire to choose a timeless name, stating, 'My thoughts on her name is something I want to take my time with and make sure it is timeless and not something she will hate.'
The couple managed to keep the pregnancy under wraps for as long as possible, sharing the news only with immediate family and close friends before their public announcement.
During their interview, Brett didn't shy away from commenting on the recent 2025 Daylesford season of The Block, which saw two couples leave without any prize money. He expressed little surprise at the auction results, particularly the reactions to the hefty $2.99 million reserves placed on properties in the small Victorian town.
Brett offered a pointed perspective, adding, 'If you’re going on The Block for life-changing money and fame, you’re not there for the right reasons.'
Reflecting on Their Block Experience
This commentary comes after the couple's own memorable experience during their Block auction in 2023. They made headlines for their frustrated reaction after their house sold for $3,035,000, yielding a profit of just $65,000 over the reserve price.
At the time, Kristy remarked, 'Australia got what they wanted, so!' while Brett noted, 'I hate to look ungrateful – $65K is massive to some people – but we gave up three months of great jobs, it doesn't cover it.'
The situation escalated when Kristy confronted their fellow contestants after they applauded her result. In a scene that shocked viewers, she publicly blamed their agent, ranting, 'Why would you clap? Sorry, everyone, but our agent s**t the bed, they f**ked it up for us.'
