Couple with 35-Year Age Gap Welcomes Son on 70th Birthday

A married couple from Alaska with a significant 35-year age difference has joyfully welcomed their young son through IVF, with the birth remarkably occurring on the husband's 70th birthday. Glenda, aged 35, and her husband Roy celebrated the arrival of Roy Briley III, now seven months old, on June 6, 2025—the precise date marking Roy's milestone 70th birthday.

An Unconventional Love Story

The pair first connected in November 2020 when Glenda, then 29, sought business advice from Roy, a semi-retired entrepreneur, about starting her own insurance venture. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, leading Roy to invite Glenda to dinner that very evening. Within just two months, they moved in together, and Roy proposed during a romantic Valentine's Day meal in 2022. They married in an intimate ceremony with only 20 guests on July 27, 2022.

Overcoming Challenges to Parenthood

Eager to start a family, the couple embarked on their IVF journey in September 2022. This process involved Roy undergoing a surgical procedure to extract sperm after a previous battle with prostate cancer. Glenda had her first embryo implanted in December 2022, but the path to parenthood was fraught with difficulty, including two devastating miscarriages before she successfully became pregnant with their son two years later.

Navigating Criticism and Family Dynamics

While their substantial age gap has drawn considerable online criticism and raised eyebrows, Glenda and Roy remain steadfast in their belief that their relationship simply works for them. Roy, who is already a father to eight children from a prior marriage, acknowledged the skepticism, stating, "I always feel from my perspective from people online thinking it's not a good idea, I agree. It just happens to work for us."

He expressed immense joy over their son, noting, "He has my wife's face, and I couldn't dream for anything better." The couple's families have also required time to adjust, with Glenda's mother, Rose, 56, initially questioning her daughter's decision to pursue the relationship.

Responding to Public Scrutiny

Glenda praised her husband as "driven, hardworking, and very successful," emphasizing their shared similarities over differences. She addressed the negative comments they've encountered online, saying, "We've had some negative comments where people say really mean stuff like 'oh my god she's there for the money.' I really just ignore those type of comments."

Roy highlighted his sense of responsibility, stating, "I feel a responsibility towards both my wife and newborn son to live the healthiest and best life I can." He maintains a healthy lifestyle, including using a treadmill six times weekly, and abstains from alcohol and drugs.

Looking Ahead with Hope

The couple, who share details of their life on social media, have documented their journey to parenthood, receiving a mixed reaction from viewers. Glenda revealed that their story has "inspired" and "given hope" to other couples in similar age-gap relationships who are trying to conceive. With their son bringing them closer together, they are now planning their next round of IVF in December, hoping to welcome another baby into their family.
