Initial Reluctance
Vanderpump initially declined his mother's offer to donate part of her liver, expressing concern about subjecting a loved one to the risks associated with his illness and potential complications for her. His perspective shifted after learning that the risk to live donors in the UK is minimal, with no fatalities recorded, and only 20 per cent of volunteers are accepted due to rigorous testing.
Brother Steps Forward
Vanderpump's wife, Alice, revealed that his brother is currently undergoing tests to determine his suitability as a live donor, a decision significantly influenced by the recent birth of their son, Marmaduke.
