Apple Corps has announced plans for the first official Beatles fan experience, set to open at 3 Savile Row in Mayfair, London, in 2027. The building, where the band recorded their final album Let It Be and performed their legendary rooftop concert on 30 January 1969, will house seven floors of archive material and rotating exhibitions.
The project, titled 'The Beatles at 3 Savile Row', has the backing of surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as London mayor Sadiq Khan. McCartney said in a statement: 'It was such a trip to get back to 3 Savile Row recently and have a look around. There are so many special memories within the walls, not to mention the rooftop.'
Sadiq Khan commented: 'The Beatles on the roof of 3 Savile Row is one of the most iconic moments in music history. So, it's hugely exciting that this famous landmark will be opened up for everyone to enjoy the story of the Beatles.'
The announcement comes amid a resurgence of interest in the band, following Peter Jackson's 2021 documentary series Get Back and the 2023 release of their final single 'Now and Then'. Director Sam Mendes is also working on four films, each focusing on a different Beatle, starring Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal, and Joseph Quinn.
Mendes said of the new hub: 'I've looked around a lot of Beatles sites in making these movies, but there is something special in the air at Savile Row. How wonderful that fans will now have a chance to see it on screen and in person. To actually be on the rooftop where it happened.'
