Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has been sidelined for the remainder of the LaLiga season due to a hamstring injury, but the club expects him to be fit for the upcoming World Cup.
Injury Details
The 18-year-old Spain international was forced off during Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo, shortly after converting a penalty late in the first half. Barcelona released a statement confirming the diagnosis: “Tests carried out have confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has a hamstring injury in his left leg (biceps femoris muscle).”
The club added that Yamal will undergo conservative treatment and will miss the rest of the season, but he is projected to be available for the World Cup. Barcelona still have six league matches to play, holding a comfortable nine-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid in second place.
World Cup Timeline
Spain's World Cup squad is scheduled to assemble on May 30, with the final player list submitted to FIFA on June 1. Their opening match is against Cape Verde on June 15. Yamal's expected recovery timeline suggests he could be ready for the tournament, providing a boost to Spain's attacking options.
