Granny's Coffin Nightmare: I Went to Sleep in a Comfy Bed and Woke Up in a Body Bag
Man wrongly declared dead wakes up in funeral home body bag

In a tale that sounds like it's been ripped from a horror film, a Louisiana man has lived through every person's worst nightmare after being mistakenly pronounced dead.

Walter Williams, 78, was found unresponsive by a coroner at his home in Lexington, Mississippi. After being unable to find a pulse, he was declared deceased and transported to a local funeral home.

The horrifying truth was discovered only when the funeral home director, Byron Porter, went to embalm him. As he unzipped the body bag, he noticed movement. To his utter astonishment, Mr Williams began kicking his legs.

"He was not dead," Mr Porter told local news, a statement that barely captures the sheer shock of the moment.

It is believed that Mr Williams's pacemaker may have stopped working temporarily, leading to the erroneous declaration of death. His family, who had been preparing for a funeral, were instead celebrating a miraculous return.

Mr Williams was swiftly transported to a local hospital where he was confirmed to be very much alive, albeit rightfully shaken by the entire ordeal.
