Several people have been treated for injuries at the scene following the incident, which was reported at around 3.38pm. The event's livestream was dramatically ended shortly after.
Police statement on the incident
Sussex Police issued a statement confirming their response. It read: "Emergency services are currently responding to an incident at an event near Steyning."
The statement continued: "It follows reports of a sign having fallen and injured a number of people at the site in Washington Road. Police were called at around 3.38pm and remain at the scene, assisting other emergency services, at this time."
Traffic disruption and ongoing response
Police warned of potential traffic disruption in the local area, urging the public to "seek alternative routes if possible." The statement added: "We have no further information at this time, but will provide any updates as soon as we are in a position to do so."
