According to a statement from his press secretary, the Democratic senator sustained minor injuries to his face from the early-morning slip. Medical professionals determined the fall was preceded by an episode of ventricular fibrillation, a serious heart rhythm disturbance.

Demonstrating his characteristic wit, Fetterman released a statement through his office joking about his appearance. "If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!" the senator remarked, indicating his spirits remained high despite the incident.
