In the Taunus region of Germany, stags were photographed fighting in a forest near Frankfurt as the rutting season begins. In France, tourists visited an ice cave in the Mer de Glace glacier in the French Alps, where the cave entrance is covered with geotextile tarps to slow down melting. The glacier is undergoing accelerated melting due to climate breakdown.

In Tokyo, Japan, Lee Ju-ho of South Korea competed in the men's 200m backstroke final at the Asian Games. In Nagoya, Thailand's Phutawan Sopa kicked the ball past Malaysia's Mohamad Azlan Alias during the men's team sepak takraw gold-medal match.

Riot police charged the crowd and arrested several people after fireworks were set off.
In Paris, bishops arrived at the Élysée Palace during a four-day visit by Pope Leo XIV to France. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Giselle Correa, a caregiver, hugged Flavio, a resident of the Don Orione Cottolengo residential care facility for people with disabilities, where Pope Leo is scheduled to visit during a trip to Argentina in November.

In Baltar, Spain, firefighters attempted to extinguish a forest fire close to the town of Xinzo de Limia in the north-west of Spain, where the blaze has burned across more than 140 hectares.
