A mother in Louisiana has been charged with negligent homicide following the horrific alligator attack that claimed the life of her two-year-old son. The tragedy unfolded in a swampy area of Westwego, just outside New Orleans, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto stated that the mother's account of the event was inconsistent. "She claimed the child was merely splashing in shallow water when the alligator struck," Lopinto explained. "However, the water in that area is significantly deeper, and our investigation suggests a severe lapse in supervision."
