An adorable pit bull named Brinks has won the hearts of many after being rescued from the streets of New York, thanks to his unusual talent for grinning just like a human. His owner, Jon Bozak, discovered the dog's remarkable smile the very first day they met.
Jon first spotted Brinks across the street from his apartment in New York. The dog trotted over and immediately made himself at home in Jon's car, flashing a wide smile as they drove. 'As soon as I saw him smiling at the world passing by my car, it pretty much was a non-decision. The best decision I made,' Jon said.
Despite putting up numerous 'found dog' signs across the city over the next two months, no one came forward to claim Brinks. Jon decided to make him a permanent member of his family, and years later, Brinks is still showing off his pearly whites.
Jon, a creative projects director, describes the smile as an expression of friendliness and trust. 'He does it in reaction to things that you'd think make a dog or a living creature smile; food, getting petted,' he explained. Brinks even smiles in his sleep, which Jon finds amazing and 'too cute.'
Now approaching his 12th birthday, Brinks continues to bring joy to Jon. 'No matter how bad the day is, or how bad the job is, no matter how down you think you can get; you look at that dog and his smile, and you can't help but be happy,' Jon said.
