A quiet village in India has been plunged into terror following a horrific and fatal animal attack. A 35-year-old man was set upon and killed by a raging swarm of more than 20 monkeys in a brutal and sustained assault.
The victim, identified as Kamlesh Tiwari, was reportedly walking near his home in the village of Bukna, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, when the aggressive primates launched their unexpected and vicious attack. Eyewitnesses described a scene of sheer chaos as the monkeys swarmed the man, biting and scratching him relentlessly.
Despite his desperate screams for help, the assault was so ferocious that locals were initially too terrified to intervene. By the time villagers managed to chase the primates away, Mr. Tiwari had sustained severe injuries across his entire body.
He was rushed to a nearby medical facility; however, the extensive trauma and blood loss proved fatal. The shocking incident has left the small community in a state of shock and fear, with many now afraid to leave their homes.
A Growing Problem of Human-Wildlife Conflict
This tragic event highlights the escalating issue of human-monkey conflict in parts of India. As urban expansion encroaches on natural habitats, encounters between people and wildlife are becoming increasingly common and often violent.
Monkeys, particularly Rhesus Macaques, are often seen scavenging for food in towns and cities. While they are a common sight, this extreme level of aggression is less frequent. Local authorities are now under pressure to address the problem and ensure the safety of residents, with calls for measures to manage the primate population in the area.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident, which serves as a deadly reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife when conflicts arise.
