A puppy found injured on the streets of Thailand has undergone a stunning transformation in just 22 days, thanks to the efforts of a UK-founded charity. Stormzy, a small puppy, was hit by a car and so badly injured that vets recommended euthanasia. However, Happy Doggo charity founder Niall Harbison refused to give up, and the puppy is now not only walking but attempting to run.
Happy Doggo was established in 2021 after Harbison began feeding hungry street dogs on Sunday mornings in Koh Samui, Thailand. The charity has since grown into a global organisation with employees, partners, and volunteers worldwide. It focuses on tackling the global street dog problem, providing medical care, food, and shelter to vulnerable dogs.
Harbison shared a video update on X, showing Stormzy's progress. He wrote: '22 days ago I would have said what Stormzy did today was impossible. Hard to believe...' Social media users expressed their emotions, with one commenting: 'Tears of joy!!! Stormzy is beginning to run!! He's such a miracle that you saved, Niall! Wow!'
The charity's work extends beyond individual rescues. Happy Doggo Land, a sanctuary in Thailand, currently has capacity for 15 dogs and prepares food for over 1,000 dogs daily. Plans are underway for a state-of-the-art hospital to treat more injuries and illnesses, with construction set to begin in 2025.
