Hero Dog Leads Police to Elderly Woman After Fall in Florida

A dog named Eeyore has been hailed as a hero after leading a sheriff's deputy to an 86-year-old woman who had fallen while walking him in Destin, Florida. The woman's husband reported her missing on the night of 25 September when she failed to return from their usual short walk.

Bodycam footage released on Monday shows Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy Devon Miller searching the neighbourhood. The worried husband told Miller, 'She never takes more than 10 or 15 minutes. It's almost an hour now.' Miller soon spotted Eeyore in the middle of the road. The dog trotted up to her, and she asked, 'Where's your mommy?'

Eeyore then led Miller to a nearby spot where the woman had fallen. 'He practically dragged me to her,' Miller later said in a video released on social media. The woman, who was alert and later taken to a medical facility, was astonished that Eeyore had guided the deputy to her, noting that it was not even her dog. She told Eeyore, 'Oh, sweetheart … Oh Eeyore, you're such a good boy. Grandma loves you.'
