In a scene straight from a horror film, a quiet evening in a British home turned into a heart-stopping ordeal when a massive boa constrictor came crashing through the ceiling, landing mere feet from stunned residents.
The terrifying incident, captured on home security cameras, shows the enormous reptile plummeting from above before coiling itself on the floor as family members scream in panic.
The Moment of Terror
Security footage reveals the sheer scale of the unexpected intruder as it drops through the ceiling tiles, sending debris flying across the room. The snake, measuring several feet in length, immediately began coiling and moving across the floor as the horrified household scrambled to safety.
One resident can be heard shouting warnings as the serpent lands dangerously close to where people had been sitting moments earlier.
Emergency Reptile Rescue
Specialist handlers from the South Essex Wildlife Hospital were dispatched to the address following desperate calls for help. Rescue coordinator Sue Schwar described the situation as "one of the most dramatic call-outs" her team had ever faced.
"The sheer size of this boa constrictor was staggering," Schwar told reporters. "It could have caused serious injury had it landed directly on someone. These powerful constrictors are incredibly strong and can be dangerous when they feel threatened."
Investigation and Warnings
Authorities are now investigating how the exotic snake came to be loose in the property's ceiling cavity. Neighbours reported hearing strange scratching noises for several days before the dramatic incident.
Animal welfare experts have issued fresh warnings about keeping exotic pets in residential properties without proper containment measures. Boa constrictors, while not venomous, can grow up to 13 feet in length and possess immense crushing power.
The rescued snake has been taken to a specialist facility where it will receive veterinary assessment before being rehomed to an appropriate licensed keeper.
