Frida, a two-and-a-half-year-old Kangal cross, miraculously survived a poisoning attack after being dumped in a remote village in Greece. Rescuers found her frothing at the mouth and provided emergency treatment that saved her life.
From Beach to Danger
Frida was living peacefully on a beach in Greece when she and another female stray were forcibly removed and abandoned in a village where they were not welcome. Despite her gentle personality and love of people, she became a target and was deliberately poisoned.
A rescue worker from Greek Stray ResQ said: "I haven't added the graphic images of her frothing at the mouth from being poisoned But it really is a miracle that she survived. If ever a dog deserve to have a loving home this beautiful gentle giant is one of them."
Resilient and Ready for Adoption
After weeks of care, Frida made a full recovery and remains affectionate and social. She is described as calm, friendly, and well-suited to family life, with a gentle nature around children.
Frida is now healthy and preparing for the next chapter. She is currently in Greece but is eligible to travel internationally, including to the UK, once she finds a suitable adopter.
Alarming statistics from the RSPCA show a nearly 25% surge in animal abandonments driven by the cost of living crisis, with an estimated 100,000 dogs homeless in the UK.
