Fox Joins Man Watching TV Through Open Patio Door in Swindon

A man from Swindon was left stunned after a fox casually entered his home through an open patio door and settled down to watch television with him. Phillip Skeates shared the surreal encounter on X, posting a video of the uninvited guest.

In the footage, the fox is seen initially turning back in the garden before deciding to come inside after encouragement from Skeates. Once on the laminate flooring, the animal appeared content to watch TV alongside its human host.

Social media users had mixed reactions, with some finding the moment delightful and others issuing warnings. One user joked, 'He wanted to watch Fox News,' while another recalled a similar experience with a fox entering through a cat flap.

However, several commenters urged caution, noting that foxes are wild scavengers and can become aggressive if they feel threatened. One warned, 'Normalising human contact is dangerous for them and other people. Keep them wary.'

The RSPCA advises that if a fox enters a home, people should close all other doors and gently encourage it out using a long-handled object like a broom. The charity notes that foxes rarely enter homes as they are wary of humans, and the risk of disease transmission is very low unless there is direct contact.
