Wythenshawe Park Riding Stables has asked the public to stop using its field to watch gigs after ticketless revellers climbed over gates to view concerts, leaving litter that could harm horses.
Stables warn against trespassing
The stable, located on Wythenshawe Road, took to social media to voice displeasure at residents littering after gaining access to the site. Staff spent 'several hours' clearing up the mess left behind, which could have put their animals at risk of injury or illness.
The post reads: "We are aware of members of the public climbing over the gate into our horse field in an attempt to view the concerts. We want to make it absolutely clear that no permission is given for any member of the public to enter or access this private property. Entering the field without permission is trespassing and, more importantly, puts both members of the public and our horses at unnecessary risk."
Litter risk to horses
"Our staff have also spent several hours today litter-picking and clearing rubbish that has been left behind. This field is our horses' home, and discarded litter can cause serious injury or illness to the animals," the post continues.
The park has been busy recently thanks to high-profile performers headlining the South Manchester event. Lewis Capaldi and The Cure kicked off proceedings by playing to 35,000 music fans on Saturday (August 22) and Sunday (August 23).
More concerts to come
Next weekend will see more revellers make their way to the park to watch Pulp, Courteeners and The Prodigy during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The stables respectfully asked everyone attending the concerts to stay out of the horse fields, respect the gates and fencing, and take all litter home or dispose of it responsibly. "Please respect our property and, most importantly, the safety and welfare of our horses," the post concludes.
