George Clarke visits family's green home in West Lothian

TV presenter and architect George Clarke paid a visit to a West Lothian family who transformed their lifestyle to embrace sustainability. Carlo Lagorio and his wife Anggi welcomed Clarke to their home in Winchburgh as part of ScottishPower's Great Green Challenge.

George Clarke's road trip for green living

As part of ScottishPower's initiative, Clarke embarked on a road trip to challenge misconceptions about installing green technology and living sustainably at home. He visited the couple, who are ScottishPower customers, to see firsthand how they have integrated eco-friendly changes into their daily lives.

Carlo, originally from Italy, moved to Scotland with a goal to build a sustainable lifestyle for his family and reduce their environmental footprint. Upon moving into their new build home, one of their first decisions was to switch to an electric car. They installed an electric vehicle charger on their driveway, providing flexibility to charge at home as needed.

Spotlight on everyday green changes

Clarke's tour across the country aims to highlight ordinary people making practical changes and demonstrate how greener technologies can work in real homes. As ScottishPower's Greener Living Ambassador, he is meeting those embracing green technologies in their residences.

Reflecting on his first stop, George Clarke said: “It was brilliant to meet Carlo and Anggi and hear how installing an EV home charger has made a real difference for their family. They showed me that greener choices don't have to be complicated and that they are able to fit around everyday routine, from the school run to work. I’m looking forward to visiting more ScottishPower customers across the nation, hearing their stories and talking about how green technology can make a positive impact on homes, bills and the future.”

Carlo Lagorio shared his experience: “Moving to Winchburgh gave us the space to make greener choices that work for our family, and getting an EV was a big first step. When we had our daughter seven years ago, my wife and I made it our goal to explore as much of Scotland as we can and we still love taking day trips together. It’s great knowing we can do that in a way that’s more affordable and better for the planet too. It might feel like a small step, but it’s something I hope sets a great example for my daughter.”

Proving greener living is achievable

The Great Green Challenge aims to prove that greener living does not have to be complicated; it can be achievable and a part of everyday life. The initiative is designed to share practical guidance and real customer experiences, showing what greener choices can look like in everyday life.
