Nearly 100 firefighters are tackling a grass fire at Hornchurch Country Park in east London, with smoke visible from miles away. Fourteen fire engines and around 90 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to the scene at approximately 3.16pm.

Crews tackle multiple seats of fire

The brigade said crews are working to extinguish multiple seats of fire. Pictures from the area show a large plume of smoke billowing into the sky, visible from a distance.

Residents advised to keep windows closed

Due to the significant smoke produced by the fire, residents are being urged to "keep doors and windows closed where possible". The cause of the fire has not been stated.
